Estimating job creation potential of compliant WEEE pre-treatment in Ireland

Abstract While significant focus has been placed on the environmental and health impacts of waste electrical electronic equipment (WEEE) treatment, a gap exists with respect to job creation in WEEE treatment. The employment opportunities, especially decent work, is an important factor growing green circular economies. This research investigates potential Irish pre-treatment sector by examining labour requirements at certified e-recycling facility which conducts all necessary processes, as detailed Directive, currently treating 75% Ireland's WEEE. study developed executed method estimating mass associated full-time equivalencies per category treated.
